Aarav's POV
After taking the shower, I slipped into a T-shirt and joggers, heading towards the balcony. But then, I spotted the medicine on the side table. Picking it up, I decided to take it to her room. However, the sight that greeted me when she opened the door was unimaginable. She was wearing a fucking bathrobe. My gaze involuntarily traveled from head to toe, lingering on the glimpse of her visible cleavage. Realizing she was naked underneath, I swallowed hard.Â
My mind conjured the most unholy thoughts imaginable, but I quickly averted my eyes, handing her the medicine. "Take this after breakfast," I managed, my voice strained. "It will ease your headache." Then, I practically fled, knowing another minute would have pushed me over the edge. She was having an effect on me, a profound one, without even trying. And trust me, she had no fucking idea, not even a clue, about the slightest thing.
After getting ready, I headed down to the garden for the Haldi function. The decorations were stunning, a vibrant explosion of yellow and marigold. Thankfully, my outfit concealed the hickey she'd gifted me, or I'd be enduring endless teasing from my friends. But my idiot friend, Aditya, was growing increasingly impatient to see his bride. When she finally appeared, my breath hitched. Adwitya looked breathtaking, and I noticed her eyes flickered to mine before she turned a delicate shade of crimson. I had an overwhelming urge to bite those rosy cheeks, but I pushed the thought aside and teased Aditya, who was practically undressing Bhabhi with his eyes.
The function started calmly enough, but quickly descended into a chaotic, joyous mess. Sridha, as always, knew how to stir things up. While I was applying haldi to Aditya, she snuck up behind me and smeared a handful on my cheeks. I retaliated by grabbing her hand, and with Aditya's help, we covered her face in haldi. She huffed and stormed off, leaving everyone in stitches. I retreated to the corridor, hoping to avoid further haldi assaults, but someone bumped into me. Instinctively, I caught them, only to find it was Adwitya, her eyes closed.Â
My hands wrapped around her waist, leaving haldi imprints on her skin, while her hands clutched my kurta, leaving their own marks. Her face was surprisingly clean. Moving closer, I murmured, "It's your best friend's haldi, Adwitya, and you have no haldi on you. That's not right." She opened her eyes as I rubbed my cheek against hers, transferring the haldi. I repeated the gesture on her other cheek. Her grip on my kurta tightened. I took a step back, but she pulled me closer, wrapping her arms around my neck. "Why is it always this girl?" she whispered. I was too stunned to reply when Sridha's voice rang out, "Awwwwww, Aarav Bhai, not fair. If you wanted to spend time with her, you could have just said."
Adwitya broke the hug, and I turned to Sridha, stammering, "Sr...Sridha."
"Yes, Aarav Bhai?" she replied, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly. "It's not what..." before I could complete my sentence, Sridha cut me off, taking Adwitya's hand in hers, and said, "You are so pretty, Bhabhi! Thank God I met you today. Anaaya was right. You both look super cute together. Oh, sorry, main na introduce karna bhul gayi khud ko. I'm Sridha, Aditya Bhai, the groom's sister, and Aarav Bhai's too. But I'm so upset with you, Bhai. You didn't tell me about Bhabhi."
"Hello, Sridha! Nice to meet you," Adwitya said.
"OH MY GOD, Bhabhi, nice to meet you too!" Sridha exclaimed.
Before Sridha could continue, someone splashed a bucket of haldi, drenching us all. Adwitya instinctively hugged me. Sridha chased after the culprit, and Adwitya stepped back, but I pulled her close. "Were you jealous, Adwitya?" I asked.
Turning crimson red at my statement, she tried to say something but stuttered badly, "Wo... ma... main... wo..." (I... I... well...)
"You don't need to be jealous," I said, my voice low. "No one is as perfect as the one in my arms to catch my eyes." Then, I walked away, leaving her speechless.
Drenched in haldi, I returned to my room for a shower and changed into a kurta set for the Barat.Â
I went to Aditya's room. "Finally, meri shadhi hori h, par meri fatti padi hai", said Aditya pacing here and there. (Finally, I'm getting married, but I'm scared too)
"Ohhhh", I replied.
"Kya ohh", Aditya asked again. (What ohh)
"Tujhe nii karni Shadhi?" I questioned, knowing his answer. (You don't want to get married?)
"Karni hai, kya bol raha hai tu?" he said. (I want to, What are you even saying?)
"Exactly, kya bol raha hai tu, and stop being overdramatic?" I said. (Exactly, What are you saying?)
"I'm nervous yarrrrrr", he said.
"Ohhhh", I said.
"Yarrrrrr tu na meri koi help nii kar raha, tu ja yaha se aur dekh k aa itna time kyu lagra hai, dafa ho ja tu", he said. (You are not even helping me, you get out of here, go and see why is it taking so much time, go)
Rolling my eyes, I was about to get up when Sridha announced it was time for the Barat. Then we walked to the Entrance of the hotel, everyone was dancing happily till we reached the ground entrance of the hotel, where Bhabhi's family, her Mama, and Mami, were standing to welcome Ladke Wale. (Groom's family)
After we went inside everyone was waiting for the bride, but my eyes were searching for my girl, and the moment Bhabhi walked in, my eyes found the one I was impatiently looking for in the crowd. My heart stopped.Â
The very next moment I placed my hand on my chest, "Hayeeeeee, meri Jaan le k hi manegi aap." (Hayeeeeee, she's going to be the death of me.)
She was wearing a Lilac lehenga, the dupatta draped elegantly over one shoulder, paired with a dazzling choker set, rings, and bangles. Her hair was styled in a low bun, adorned with delicate flowers. The lehenga was adorned with heavy rhinestone embroidery, and the blouse, God, it had strings crisscrossing her back, accentuating her curves. I felt an overwhelming urge to gouge out the eyes of every boy who dared to look at my Snowflake, but that anger dissipated when she looked up and met my gaze, a timid smile gracing her lips, her cheeks flushed with a delicate blush. She looked utterly ethereal.
Adwitya's POV
As the Barat procession arrived, I escorted Anshiiii from her room towards the stage, taking careful steps. When I glanced up, my breath caught in my throat. His deep green eyes met mine, and he looked utterly captivating. He was dressed in a dual-shade sky and cerulean blue overcoat kurta, intricately embroidered with silver thread and rhinestones, worn over a simple white kurta and pajama. His hair was neatly styled, and he completed the look with loafers and a watch. I found myself completely lost in the sight of him, until the boisterous hooting announced Jiju's arrival to take Anshiiii onto the stage.
Following the Jaimala ceremony, as the wedding rituals commenced, I slipped away to hide Jiju's shoes. On my return, I was adjusting my dupatta, when I unexpectedly collided with someone. The impact threw me off balance, and I instinctively shut my eyes, bracing for a fall. However, instead of meeting the floor, I felt two strong arms encircle my waist, steadying me.
"Open your eyes, Snowflake," a deep voice murmured. Instantly, I opened my eyes, recognizing the voice that always made my knees weak. His hands, still resting on my waist, sent a chaotic flurry of butterflies through my stomach. The endearment "Snowflake" sent my heart racing uncontrollably, a sensation entirely beyond my command.
I was completely adrift, lost in the depths of his green eyes, as if they were drawing me into their very essence. His voice was the most soothing melody to my ears, his touch felt as if he were sculpted perfectly to hold me, his gentleness as if I were a delicate flower, his cinnamon cologne filled my senses, his presence made the world around us fade, and every aspect of him was the source of my euphoria.
The spell was broken as we heard someone call my name. But before I could take a step away, a group of children, running excitedly, bumped into me, sending me tumbling back into his arms. "Th...Thank you," I stammered, pulling away from his warmth. Before either of us could say anything, my friend arrived and whisked me away.
Throughout the wedding ceremony, I couldn't resist stealing glances at him. Then, the priest announced the wedding was complete, declaring Jiju and Anshiiii as husband and wife. It was time for our negotiation.
"Where are my shoes?" Jiju asked.
"They're with me. Just a moment," his cousin replied.
"Where exactly?" Sridha inquired.
"I left them right here," he answered.
"Oh, let's clear up any confusion, sweetie," Vedika said with a wink, addressing the cousin. "They're with us." Everyone burst into laughter.
"I need my shoes back," Jiju insisted.
"Not so fast, Jiju. If you want them, you'll have to meet our demands," Vedika stated.
"(Not like this, If you want your shoes back, you will have to fulfill our demands.)"
"What do you want?" Jiju asked.
"Well, how about ten lakh ten thousand one hundred and eleven rupees? Cash, check, or online transfer will do,"Â Vedika suggested.
Everyone gasped, while Anshiiii glared at us for such a high demand.
"Are you asking me to sell my business or myself? That's too much," Jiju said.
"Your call,"Â Vedika shrugged.
"How about fifty thousand one hundred eleven rupees?" Jiju offered.
"No, five lakh, fifty thousand, five hundred and eleven,"Â Vedika countered.
And so, the bargaining war began, with our initial demand set at ten lakh ten thousand one hundred and eleven rupees. Knowing Anshiiii's impatient nature, we were in no rush. However, our best friend's patience finally snapped. She glared at us, then gave Jiju her most persuasive puppy-dog eyes. "Just give them one lakh ten thousand one hundred and eleven rupees and let's go. I can't stand in this heavy outfit all day." Anshiiii, a child at heart but a grump to the world, always gets her way.Â
Jiju wrote the check and got his shoes. We weren't aiming for less, but one lakh ten thousand one hundred and eleven rupees was a satisfactory compromise. The vidai was the only part I wasn't prepared for. Seeing everyone's tear-streaked faces brought tears to my own eyes. After the vidai, I returned to my room.
