Aarav's POV.

"You don't want to go?" I asked, feigning disappointment.

She giggled, "I want to!" Her eyes sparkled like the fairy lights strung across the fair.

Her infectious joy was irresistible. "Which ride first, Tara?" I asked, a smile tugging at my lips.

"That one!" she exclaimed, pointing towards the carousel, her eyes alight. "I love unicorns, PJ! They're my favorite!"

After securing her ticket, we waited for her turn. As she settled onto a brightly colored unicorn, her happiness was so radiant, I couldn't resist snapping a few photos.  Each click captured a moment of her unadulterated happiness. Once the ride ended, she eagerly directed me towards the Rockin' Tug, followed by a whirlwind of other attractions: Helter Skelter, Red Baron, Pirate Ship, and Tilt-A-Whirl. There were more adventurous rides, but her childlike apprehension and my own protective instincts kept us grounded.

After a series of exhilarating spins and dips, I treated her to a fluffy cloud of cotton candy as big as her head. Then, she dragged me to the bumper cars, where we bumped and giggled like silly geese. Teacups, orbiter, and roller coaster, ending with a final spin on the scrambler..

As we left the scrambler, I gave her a surprise – a fluffy unicorn plushie with big, sparkly eyes.

"Belle!" she gasped, hugging it tight. "Is she for me?"

"Just for you, little star," I confirmed, my heart melting.

She launched herself into my arms, hugging me with a squeal, then immediately transferred her affection to the plushie, squeezing it tightly before hugging me again, her happiness radiating like sunshine.

With her unicorn companion in tow, we headed towards the food stalls. Settling her into a chair, I asked, "What would you like to eat, Tara?"

"Cheesecorn dog and fries!" she chirped, still cuddling Belle.

I ordered her requested meal, and once she finished, I led her towards the ice cream stand – a clear favorite, inherited from her Bua.

"Ice cream!" she exclaimed, her face beaming. "Can I have some?"

"Of course, princess," I said, buying her chocolate and myself butterscotch.

"You're the best, PJ!" she declared, mid- lick, chocolate smeared around her mouth. "You can marry my Buaa!"

I chuckled, amused by her unwavering confidence. "What if your Bua doesn't want to marry me?" I asked, pretending to be heartbroken.

Her expression turned to one of pure shock and horror. After a moment of stunned silence, she reassured me, "Buaa... will marry you," her tone as soothing as if calming a distressed child.

I smiled, telling her to finish her ice cream. Then, remembering Shranaya Bhabhi's earlier caution, I decided to call her, just to reassure her that Tara was having a blast and causing absolutely no trouble.

I turned to Tara, who had finished her ice cream, a chocolate mustache adorning her upper lip. Gently wiping her face, I asked, "Shall we go, little one?

She nodded, taking my hand while clutching Belle in the other. As we walked, she spotted a jewelry stall and her eyes lit up. "PJ, this is SO cute!" she exclaimed, pointing to a small bangle with a tiny jump. "Buaa has one like this!"

"Do you want it?" I asked, and she nodded enthusiastically.

After purchasing a few items, including a small bangle for Tara and a few trinkets that caught my eye, my mind still swirling with the unexpected call and the jewelry I'd seen, we headed towards the parking lot, where we met the rest of the group, who were all looking a bit tired but excited.

Adwitya's POV.

I descended to the lobby, a deep emerald green anarkali suit, mirroring his eye color, swishing around my ankles like a gentle breeze. My favorite silver oxidized jhumkas, bangles, and a small black bindi completed the ensemble, a silent hope fluttering in my chest that he would notice. Anaaya, Aavya, and Shikha trailed behind me. As we approached the hotel's entrance, I spotted him leaning against his car, a white shirt and blue denim accentuating his tall frame. He was frowning at his phone, lost in thought, seemingly oblivious to my presence.

"Thank God Bhai finally agreed to this tour," Aavya declared, her voice laced with playful sarcasm. "We've been to Jaipur a dozen times, and this is the first time he's actually shown us around. He's probably been possessed by a travel-loving ghost." A chorus of giggles erupted.

My attention returned to him. He was now looking directly at me, his gaze locking with mine, an intensity that made my breath catch in my throat. A sudden warmth spread across my cheeks, a silent conversation passing between us, a fluttery feeling took place in my stomach. It felt like time had slowed, like we were the only two people there. The spell was broken by the sharp honk of a motorcycle. He turned out to be our tour guide.

We split into two cars, our parents taking a separate vehicle. Our tour commenced with the majestic City Palace, followed by the breathtaking Amber Palace, the serene Jal Mahal, the imposing Nahargarh Fort, the fascinating Jantar Mantar, the grand Albert Hall Museum, the formidable Jaigarh Fort, and finally, the iconic Hawa Mahal. Each location was a marvel, a glimpse into Jaipur's rich history, but my thoughts kept drifting to him.

Throughout the City Palace and Amber Palace visits, I noticed him constantly on his phone. A strange irritation simmered within me. Was I not presentable in this color? Was he so engrossed in whatever he was doing that he didn't even notice me? After a while, he caught me looking, and I quickly averted my gaze, my cheeks burning.

His soft, intense stare, even for that brief moment, sent a flurry of butterflies fluttering in my stomach, and a blush crept up my neck. After that, I would steal glances, and noticed he was no longer on his phone, but interacting with our elders, my brother, and his siblings, his dimpled smile flashing.

At Jaigarh Fort, the girls and I ventured ahead, the ancient stones echoing our footsteps. After a while, I realized he and Tara were missing. The vastness of the fort suddenly felt a bit lonely. Assuming they were lingering somewhere, taking in the sights, we continued our exploration. As we reached the fort's highest point, where the wind whipped around us, isolating us from the rest of the group, I received a call.

"Hello, who is this?" I asked. A prolonged silence followed.

Then, his voice echoed through the line. "Hello, Adwitya." I froze, momentarily speechless.

"Adwitya?" he repeated, and My heart skipped a beat.

"J....Jiii," I stammered, still reeling from the shock.

"Are you guys done with your tour?" he enquired.

"Umm... we're just heading down," I replied.

"Okay. Can you inform Shranaya Bhabhi that Tara is having fun and we will be out in a bit?" he asked.

"Hmm," I hummed, my voice barely a whisper, nodding despite him not seeing me.

"Okay, bye," he said, ending the call. I felt his smile through the phone.

His voice replayed in my mind, a warm, unexpected melody. I felt a mix of confusion and a strange, fluttering excitement. I hurried to find Shranya Bhabhi, needing to understand what had happened. "Where's Tara?" I asked, my voice a little too sharp.

"Oh, she's at the fair with Aarav," she replied, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"You gave him my number?" I accused, a hint of playful annoyance mixed with a nervous tremor in my voice.

"Yeah," she replied, a mischievous glint in her eyes, before disappearing around a corner, leaving me standing there, slightly flustered. She should have asked me! It wasn't that I would have refused, but the unexpected call, the way he'd said my name... it had startled me, in a way that made my heart race. Adwitya. The simple sound of my name, spoken by him, felt different, deeper. It sounded so good coming from him, sending a strange, delightful shiver down my spine. A blush crept up my neck, and I had to take a deep breath to calm the sudden chaos inside me. What was happening to me? Shranya Bhabhi's little stunt had just stirred up a whirlwind of emotions I wasn't quite ready to navigate.

As we reached the parking lot, I saw him and Tara clutching a giant unicorn.

"I'm starving," Shikha declared, sparking a chorus of agreement.

"There's a restaurant nearby. Let's go?" he said.

We all nodded, and headed towards the restaurant. Tara regaled us with tales of her fair adventures, listing every ride, treat, and toy she had acquired.

After settling into our seats at the restaurant, I excused myself to use the restroom. As I stepped out, I saw him standing near the hall's entrance, his hands tucked into his pockets, a slightly nervous expression on his face.

As I approached him, he said, "Rukiyeh." (Stop.) I froze, turning to face him, my voice instantly deserting me. My heart was doing a frantic little dance in my chest.

"Adwitya," he said softly, his voice a low murmur that seemed to wrap around me.

"H...haan?" I stammered, my cheeks warming.

"I'm so sorry," he said, his gaze fixed on mine. "I really am. I didn't know it was your number. Shranaya Bhabhi asked for my phone to give her number to me, but it was yours. I only found out when I called to tell her about Tara. I'm really sorry."

A wave of apprehension washed over me. Was he apologizing because he felt obligated, because he had my number by accident? The thought made my heart sink a little.

Then, he whispered, his voice barely audible, "I didn't want to get your number like this. I wanted to ask you for it." He was looking down, almost shy, but his words were clear.

My breath hitched. All the negative thoughts vanished like mist in the morning sun. "It's okay, Aarav ji," I replied, a genuine smile spreading across my face.

He looked up, his own smile mirroring mine, and pulled something from his pocket. "This is for you," he said, handing me a potli.

I opened it, and my eyes widened. Inside, nestled in soft fabric, was a set of oxidized jewelry: delicate earrings, intricately designed rings, shimmering bangles, and a tiny, exquisite nose ring. A wave of warmth spread through me. He knows. He knows my love for oxidized jewelry. A smile, brighter than any I'd worn all day, bloomed on my face. When I looked up to thank him, he had already disappeared back into the dining hall.

The rest of the evening was a blur. We finished our meal and continued our tour, visiting Jal Mahal and Hawa Mahal. But my mind was filled with the potli, with his words, with the way he looked at me. Back at the hotel, as I retreated to my room, I couldn't stop thinking about the jewelry and his shy, whispered confession. It was the perfect ending to a day that had unexpectedly turned into something truly special.
